Regulations, laws, user journey & system requirements

The project began with understanding the laws and regulations governing benefits. These laws and regulations play a crucial role because we are building a government solution that will be used by thousands of people. Misunderstanding these laws and regulations can lead to improper verification of benefit eligibility, incorrect calculations, or even lawsuits.

After understanding the laws and regulations, it was time to analyze the currently used forms for benefit applications and create the user journey, from Service Desk, Online Portal to Back Office and vice versa and map the requirements for each process.

The result

Finally, a user-friendly prototype solution was designed with a generic flow and functions that will be used for 9 types of benefits. By designing a generic flow and functions, we ensure consistency and therefore ease of use for both the claimant of the online portal and the back office clerk.

Because we are building a solution, a design system was created so that we can reuse the components and even convert them to a different style for a new client who purchases a package of benefit solutions from BearinPoint Caribbean. This saves us time in designing, but also in building the components, because they are already stored in the CSS.
